Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Announce 40th Anniversary Tour

The music world was quite pleasantly surprised by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers when they announced their 40th-anniversary tour just recently! The legendary rock act is turning 40, and what better way to mark the big number than an extensive tour stretching out across the entire summer.

Not only are we going to get the chance to see Tom and the boys live, but there will be a whole array of other performers opening the shows. Without spoiling too much, we are just going to say that Joe Walsh is in the mix as well.

The tour commemorates four decades since the band’s debut album hit the streets, introducing us to such hit tracks as Breakdown and American Girl. After the initial success, the momentum was all there, which was more than enough for Tom and the crew to comfortably start their climb towards the stars.

In 1979 they’ve released Don’t Do Me Like That, which entered the U.S. Top 10 list, ensuring the band’s reputation as the authority in the evolving heartland rock scene. You can figure out just how much of a reach the band has developed over the years by the simple fact that all of them got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Needless to say, for a band that has managed to maintain a more or less original lineup, hitting such a significant anniversary is a huge thing. Considering how much hype is already building up, it’s safe to assume that the response is going to be impressive.

The folks who decide to join the band as they rock the tour will be treated with one of the most authentic rock experiences available right now. However, that is not all. On top of the tour, the gang has decided to release a special vinyl box set that comes in two parts.

The first one includes the entire discography from the moment the band was formed up to 1991, while the other goes from 1994 and ends with their latest album that came out in 2014. If you are in a hurry, you can get both of these box sets on the band’s own website today.

If you have been following Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers over the years, this vinyl edition of their entire repertoire is a must have for your collection. All of the recordings have been remastered and pressed on high-quality vinyl. The proud owners of this release will be able to enjoy all of the classics in audio quality these songs deserve.

With that said, the tour has two starting dates – one official and one unofficial. The band is going to perform in Indianapolis on May 13th, but the official starting show of the tour is set to be in Oklahoma City on April 20. Opening act for the majority of the tour is going to be Joe Walsh – the legendary member of Eagles and several other notable rock bands.

Judging by the way things are looking, the tour is going to be wild and the fans will be treated by some of the best performance Tom is capable of delivering along with his crew. If you are not sure whether your location is on the schedule, check out the tour dates below.

Unfortunately for those living outside the borders of United States, the band has limited the tour to U.S. only. However, an event of this type is worth taking the trip to the nearest show on the itinerary since it’s definitely not certain when we are going to see them perform in this capacity again.

The tickets are going to become available on Friday, December 16, and you will be able to pick them up online. With that said, members of Tom Patty’s Highway Companion club will be able to get the tickets two days earlier. We definitely suggest you pull the trigger on this deal soon since the everyone is projecting full venues from start until the end of the tour.

Treat yourself with some of the best rock n’ roll the world has ever heard. For all the Tom Patty and The Heartbreaker fans out there, this tour is definitely something they are going to remember for a long, long time. Just make sure to wear those dancing shoes and be prepared for a great set list that will include some of the timeless classics, as well as the stuff from their last album.
